So I finally got around to downloading Onyx.
    Coupla questions:

    1) Do I even need it? (I was told that Macs perform routine cleanup if I put the unit to sleep instead of shutting it down)

    2) Any hints on running this? (I was told it was the Windows equivalent of CCleaner. Needless to say, it looks a lot more complicated. I was planning on just using the default settings but even with those, I'm not quite sure what I'm doing :p)

Apparently when the system goes idle the computer starts performing defragmentation and clean up automatically. It is built into the OS itself so you do not need any additional program to do those things. Also, when you put your system to sleep, the hard drive is still on until the sleep starts glowing bright to dim "breathing". So when the light is a constant brightness the hard drive is still running and the system should not be moved. All this information is in the owner's manual. Check it out. And anyone please correct me if I am wrong! I think I have it right though...

I was told moving the system is fine as long as the sleep light is on. (I could've sworn I read it in the manual but not sure)

Sleep light = breathing light, not solid constant light.

If your just wanting to run the basic maintenance scripts/cron jobs etc.. you can try out mainmenu, I found it easier and simpler to use then onyx

I really like the way CCleaner works on Windows. On the other hand I have no idea what alot of the Onyx stuff does + it's so slow that I rarely even bother.

I use Maintenance, I ran it when I first downloaded it and kinda forgot about it...
I don't really know if it's any good, the Macs experts around here will probably know.
