Perhaps it's me, but out of the 3 regular macbook's it seems
to me that only the 'cheapest' version on the site has a new cpu.

With 2.0hghz it must be using the T7300 cpu, 4mb cache and 800fsb
    - the other two models have 2.16ghz, which means they use the T7400 cpu..which is the 'old' serie, right? (667 fsb)?

So i figured...heck I just get the lowest model, upgrade the hdd a tad and get me the double layer burner and be done with it...turns out, that's not possible.
What's up with that? I don't really fancy buying an 'old' cpu, especially not at the premium they ask for it.

Am I wrong, or is it just me who things this is stupid?

Yeah, you're wrong. The lowest model actually uses the Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 which also has a 667MHz FSB.

You can compare the specs HERE.

    No macbook has Santa Rosa.

Santa Rosa has the 2.2 and 2.4 processors and 800MHz bus.

Santa Rosa really did not amount to all that much.

Where on earth are the DDR2-800 memory modules I ask!!! WHERE??!! I want them!

Can someone please explain to me why virtually no laptop vendors sell DDR2-800 ram? Too much power draw? Don't exist? Too expensive? I really though SR would introduce faster ram... Then gain if DDR2-667 notebook ram is running 4-4-4-12 latency or lower maybe the performance increase to DDR2-800 is negligible.

Because SR can't use 800mhz RAM to its potential, no point mass producing it now when it won't be in demand until Intel's next platform chipset comes out, though AMDs new platform, however, can utilize the 800mhz RAM.

No point... 800 is not supported even by Santa Rosa. Guess they thought dual-channel was enough.

Santa Rosa doesn't take full advantage of DDR2-800 and performance is similar to the DDR2-667.
