    Hi Gents,

I had a weird problem yesterday on my macbook bluetooth; after cold start-up, the bluetooth was already activated but it did not connect to the Microsoft 5000 mouse. I thought that it was the mouse (empty batteries) but it was instead something weird with bluetooth as, after deactivating bluetooth, it never wanted to reactivate back.... Moreover I tried to remove the mouse installation but this jammed the system preferences....
After forcing the s/d of the system preferences, I decided to s/d the mac but the rotating spin, before s/d, remained for a long time and I was obliged to s/d macbook with the power button (I am quite sure that the HDD was not spinning at that moment).
I would like to have your advices/answers about these 3 questions please:
1- did a similar problem (random) with bluetooth activation or devices happen to you too? (I read about some people reporting bad experiences on macbook alu bluetooth too but maybe worse than mine). It is working OK now but I am watching it closely....
2- Is there any risk that I damaged something by shutting the mac down via the power button after about >3min of rotating spin? I made afterwards a check of the disc (with Apple disc utility and with Onyx) and everything was OK for both utility disc and Onyx...
3- Is there something more I should do for checking that I did not damage anything?

thank you for your kind attention and help

    Ciao

    1. Usually a restart or trashing the bluetooth plist file in Preferences fixes bluetooth problems. If the problem persists, you should take the machine to Apple and have it looked at.

    2. Shutting down your computer will not damage the HD.

    3. Not really.

The problem did not repeat yet...I am crossing my fingers and I did an onyx clean-up...

Even though I forced the power button while the OS was trying to s/d (s/d launched via the apple menu) with the rotating spin longly displayed-on?...

Thank you for your reply (tell me please about the second question asked above)

honestly, pairing the mouse 5000 sux, it took me inumerous restarts to pair it up on Windows 7 and XP and they dont offer drivers on the website..

you just have to be patient when pairing it..
in OS X it was the same problem...
my VAIO BT mouse paired smoothly everytime

I've done that about a dozen times and my Macbook is still running strong. In the worst case, the file you were copying to/from disk might be corrupted at the destination (for example if you were copying a 8GB file across the network, and then decided to switch off one of the nodes before the transfer was complete).

Thanks but the bluetooth made something strange on the mac too....Any risk / damage that I might have done by forcing the s/d via the power button with the spinning wheel still and longly displayed because of OSX bugging to s/d - restart the mac? Cheers

OK thanks!! Ouff...I am reassured by your words...(also because I thought that Mac might be less prone to these long s/d than pc's....but it had to be really in troubles...).
I will check the bluetooth behavior closely in the next days and i will go to Apple if it will reoccur.
    Thanks again and ciao
