For the love of God, just stay off the porn, serial, and scam sites, don't open unknown messages, and stay off the p2p networks!

I don't even run anti-virus on XP anymore, just WinPatrol!

I have never gotten a virus off a P2P network in my life. You just have to avoiding downloading and running naked.fun.exe and you are golden.

It's not just websites you get viruses off from. I once brought my laptop over to a mates for a LAN party - the second I connected my AntiVirus went insane.
A few years prior to that, when 3.4" floppy disks were still widely available, a mate of mine gave me a disk with some documents, and my AntiVirus went insane the second I put in the disk.
It's not always all your fault when you get a virus. The good thing about OS X is that you can make sure it's never your fault if you get a virus.

Most of the viruses we get here in the company where I work come from Outlook, Outlook Express and Internet Explorer 6 (active X technology). Don't use these and you'll see a BIG improvement.

Although I'd have said so in a different manner, I agree with the OP. I don't really dislike Windows, but hate having to install AV, antispyware programs, run scans, and constantly be on my toes regarding security. My Mac and OSX (and Linux on my formerly Windows machines) allow me to relax a bit and enjoy the computer more.

Definitely agree. Ranging from AV programs to anti-spyware programs and firewalls plus modifying browsers, it is too much to worry about. Then you have to worry about other people infecting you!
