yeah, beat you all up and steal your MacBooks and MBPs.

Looks like I'm probably going to ditch my PC desktop idea (long story) and probably customize the heck out of an MBP or their desktop.

    Soon, so soon.

    I'm feeling a little embarrissed.

PC friends don't know i'm writing this.

You don't want the Quadro, you want the 4x7300GTs instead :p. Get that and 8x30inch monitors and hook em all up and play HL2 on 8 screens :p

    I'm joking btw.

The Quadro is not a gaming card. It is not designed for games. You will be better off with the X1900, or an iMac with a X1600.
Do remember that Macs aren't made for games - games that work on Mac OS X are usually more expensive and have very low availability in stores. You will probably be better off getting a cheaper 24 inch iMac or something and spending the rest on a new graphics card for your PC Desktop.

If you get every option, it like $20K. If you want a gaming rig, you can put one together for less and I have heard good things about the 30" Dell LCD though I haven't seen one myself. My 20" does fine for my needs.

The Quadro may not be marketed as a gaming card, but its 3dMark scores rival that of the 7900GTX.

Oh, and to the OP - put in the cheapest card possible, and then go out and buy an 8800GTX yourself.

    1) Buying a graphics card off the shelf won't work very well, there are only drivers for the specific cards you can buy from Apple in OS X and those graphics cards have different firmware than their PC equivalents.

    2) You could use the Cinema Display with a PC also if you really wanted to, though of course I support your decision to get a Mac :)

The only problem with your suggestion, dear non-Mac Pro user, is that the 8800GTX will not be compatible with the Mac Pro and therefore will not work.

And, although the Quadro is has a half decent 3DMark (very bad considering its price) and looks far more superior than anything on paper, it is incompatible with a number of games and therefore will sometimes either not run the games or display graphical glitches.

Quadro desktop cards are for professional applications. You'll do much better with the x1900XT. And I don't see why you're embarrassed to switch. I'm ready to get away from Windows...

The X1900XT is nothing to sneeze at. It is a good card. Also, I would pass on the ACD and get a dell 30" monitor, save yourself some money. One more thing, wait. The Mac Pro's will likely be upgraded soon to two quad core processors and probably new graphics options.

x1900 is a great card. Also to the person who said Mac's can't game well - Bootcamp makes this a non issue.

Which is why I am recommending purchasing a cheaper iMac and spending the remainder on a good gaming PC desktop.
