Yeah, Apple's Support Discussions. You can also try the other Mac-centric forums around the web, like MacRumors Forum.

Although I have to say I enjoy it here the best :).

    Here and Macromors for me.

That said here we do get occasional Windows Jack @$$es popping in here to start crap. I guess they are bored while waiting for a file copy in Vista.

I recently stumbled across LiveQuartz. Its a fairly clean & simple image editing program with layers and alpha. It might do the trick until you save up money for adobe elements.

Recently bought/acquired programs that I like and have no problem recommending:

    Authoring/Burning DVDs: Popcorn 3
Password manager somewhat similar to RoboForm for PC: 1Password
DVD Decrypter for backing up your own personal DVDs (when mactheripper just doesn't work): VLC+Fairmount
MSN Messenger alternative with Video chat: aMSN
    Office alternative: iWork 08

But the one thing that I recommend that is well worth getting as a new mac user IMO is .mac. I'm on the 60 day trial right now but I already purchased the kit from a store for $79. The web galleries, iDisk, Backup 3 etc... are just so useful and well integrated into OSX and iLife. Highly recommended.
