Which drive is better for OSX considering the lack of trim support? Price is not an issue.

From a pure speed standpoint, the Vertex 2 has much faster write speeds. Their read speeds are pretty much the same though. I don't know what the IOPS numbers are for each drive, but I would guess that the Vertex 2 can perform better in that respect.

I'd suggest you ask your first question in the SSD thread.

There are some people there who will be able to tell you how well the Sandforce drives keep up without TRIM.

doesn't the vertex 2 and agility 2 with sandforce controllers do a "trim on the fly"? Since your question is based purely on which is better for osx due to lack of trim support I would say the OCZ options are since they have some sort of built in garbage collection in the controllers. At least from what I have read.

I love my Sandforce based OWC, I'm thinking of getting a 2nd to raid in my MacBook.

IMO OWC is overpriced when you can get similar performing drives from other companies for cheaper. Reading reviews will show which drives perform along the same lines.

One is enough. I am running raid and think one is actually fast enough. You will get worse battery life with 2 of them running.

I would get the OCZ. I have the Vertex 2 in my MBP and the Intel 160Gb G2 in my Thinkpad X201s.

I would be very, very leery of an ebay sale with a label-less and yet "brand new" SSD drive that was pulled from a functioning machine claiming to be the "most fastest" and then immediately after tell you that all sales are final and there are absolutely no returns.

That little voice in the back of your head that says "Danger Will Robinson!" might be onto something here...
