Apple - iPhone 4 - Size, weight, battery life, and other specs System Requirements is 10.5.8, So who ever is on Tiger won't be able to sync there iPhone 4 on their Mac.

While Apple is not one to support old tech and will move forwards regardless of what it's consumers think, I don't get why they won't support Tiger since the newest iTunes is supported on Tiger.

That's the thing, They support Windows XP, Vista and 7. But not Tiger? Tiger is newer then XP.

BUT when was the last PC with XP sold versus the last Mac with Tiger installed?

    That's a bingo.

People STILL put XP on new machines (even if you can't buy it anymore outright from normal avenues)

But no one is putting Tiger on new machines, the vast bulk of mac users are running 10.5+

Of course, it is dumb to drop Tiger support for no real reason.

Exactly, it just seems like some way to squeeze Tiger out of existence.

I doubt there is many people who stick to such old things... that are still using Tiger... that will really spring for an iPhone. If not... killing off Tiger support doesn't bother me.. its a pain with Wineskin. I have to add extra ways for things to get done just cuz its 10.4 ... its always annoying.... thinking about dropping 10.4 support soon myself.

Older machines can't run 10.5 though, which is why. I plan on keeping my Mac Pro until 2015 before I get something new, but the way Apple is running things, I'll be obsolete by 2012.

I figured I would be safe getting something that can out spec almost every new PC, even 2.5 years later, but I can see that won't be the case.

When I got my iPod classic, I was forced to ditch my original G4 because it wouldn't support the software to run it.
