I've tried a few options on OS X that are useless to me because I can't create tables with them. Using OneNote through VMWare is fine I guess, but I lose the integration I might be able to get. I have to copy stuff from IE7 in Windows XP instead of Safari to be able to have OneNote fetch the link back to the source as well, etc. But yeah, notetaking programs that support tables.

What are the few options that you've tried?

I currently use Circus Ponies Notebook - it's primarily an outliner, but it has table support as well.

    That's the one I used most. o_O

What table support are you talking about? Whenever I tried to import a table from Pages or Numbers or Safari, it would omit the actual table and just import the text which would be formatted awkwardly.

Hrm. Just tried it with NeoOffice and works just fine for me. I just c/p the table to Notebook. Formatting and fonts sometimes turn out a bit odd depending on the page, but it's not a huge deal usually.

You can also create tables from scratch inside Notebook as well. Just go into a cell (actually be editing the cell, not just selecting it) and go to Format->Table.

MS OneNote is the best, but unfortunately it's not included with Office for Mac. However, it looks like Word for Mac 2008 will have a "Notebook" view with flags, tags, and the same appearance as OneNote in Office for Windows. I'm really hoping it has some of the same hot link, screen capture, and web site referencing functionality as the Windows version, otherwise I'll be using OneNote through VMWare like you mentioned.

Yea, lack of support for OneNote 2007 was one of the main hesitations I had with switching to OSX back in the day.

Still, all things considered, I'm satisfied with Circus Ponies Notebook for my needs - the outlining focus suits my needs better in retrospect.
