Yes Vertex 2 drives do use the SandForce controller, and do TRIM on-the-fly. Im running a vertex 2 myself so can confirm this!

The current OWC SSDs use SF controllers.

I would go with either the OWC Mercury Extreme, or the OCZ Vertex 2.
    Both use Sandforce.
    Both are awesome.

Dear ifti, were you able to install Windows 7 on bootcamp partition? If no, would you mind to try it out?
2010 Macbook Pro 13" had some problems with windows installer not detecting SSDs

I sold my Windows 7 to be honest, as I have a separate work laptop with Windows should I need to use it.
I like to keep my MBP 'pure' lol

does trim on the fly mean no need for software on OSX to be able to do "garbage collection"?

I have the same question. Is there any special formatting require prior to instal in a MBP.

Little confused on how this drive should be formatted for the initial install.
