So what is a normal temp? I feel like my MBP is "too" hot. Right now its at 66C and fans are at ~2000rpm. :(

    What are you currently running?

I'm at 2000 RPM, 57C, running FF, itunes, lastfm, quicksilver and downloading podcasts off of itunes.

EDIT: It goes to around that, 60+ when I'm heavy websites, itunes etc.

    My idle is around 45-50C.

2ND EDIT: That does seem normal to be honest, sorry for all these edits...I sometimes post before I write everything :) If you're worried about it being too hot you can download SMC Fan Control:

    http://www.eidac.de/?p=134

You can adjust the fan speed. For instance when I am running Vista and playing games I put my fan up to 4500 RPM.

    66 is very normal temperature.

what is the cpu usage? (launch "activity monitor")

    ambient/room temperature?

these processor is specced up to 105c.

there is a safety feature for modern cpu. such as; shutting down one of the core, or downclocking the speed, or if the temperature keeps on climbing, the cpu will shutdown itself.

    http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLGES

generally, you would want to keep notebook cpu under 80 degrees celcius. over 90 degrees and i would start to worry.

also, you might want to know that gpu usually runs at higher temperature.

note: viewing a website filled with flash animation usually stress the cpu really high. by "a website" i mean, 1 open browser window, no tabs, just one window, no other application running, but this one window, running flash content.

    see what i mean by going through this link;

    http://www.speakvisual.com/

it is an nvidia promo website.

interacting with the flash objects, or when the flash content is moving, thats when the high cpu usage will strike.
