Just got my Macbook :) and i have a few questions.

    A) I don't have wireless internet right now, i will on Wednesday. I Didn't organize a wireless connection on it right now because i obv could not (i guess i could have stolen my neihbours internet). Will i be able to do this afterwards? and how so?

    B) What are widgets? I've read about them in some of the suggested downloads for macs, but i'm not entirely sure what they are.

    C) I have an external hardrive, and i want to set aside around 180gb for back up for time machine and the rest i want to use for file storage. How do i go about doing this?

    D) I've seen in the desktop threads that people have different coloured Menu bar things. How can i change the colour? Is there something that needs to be downloaded?

    Thanks in advance.

    a) Yes you can do this later. Go to System Preferences and then select Network. (Or click on the wireless icon if it's in the menu bar in the top right)

    b) Widgets are small programs that run on the "Dashboard". The Dashboard is a screen you can bring up by hitting F12. I use it for Weather and Email updates mostly.

    c) You'll need to run the Disk Utility and partition/format the drive however you want it. The partition you use for Time Machine will need to be formatted for Mac OS (which you can do from the Disk Utility).

    d) I have my menu bar set to "translucent" so if I change my desktop background picture the menu bar changes color slightly. Not sure if this is what you're referring to.

K, i kinda figured out widgets after playing around a bit. I like the weather update thing.

I think mine is set as translucent right now as i changed my desktop and the menu bar changed to match.

    Thanks boss

    A couple more questions.

Is there a list of cool widgets that are useful? I've downloaded iStat as it seems quite useful, but i havent gotten anything else as of yet.

I read that i can use F9 and F10 for expose, but when i click those buttons it does not work, how do i enable it? it seems like a very useful feature and i'd like to use it.

So far nothing in the OS seems too foreign, i havent used OSX before, but i don't have too many problems right now.

Currently have a Dell desktop. I will be getting a Macbook Pro soon. I have bookmarked lots of pages over the years and just wanted to know if it would be possible to transfer "my favorites" folder to the MBP. Since all the pages are from Internet Explorer would I be able to view them via Safari ?

I apologize in advance if that's a dumb question ... I'm not too computer saavy and new to macs  LOL

Oh one more thing .... I assume I'll be able to move my iTunes from my desktop to the MBP ??

So since I have a MacBook and a MacBook Air, does that mean the quality of my life is twice as good as it would be with only one? :)

.mdf has the same structure as an .iso file, so all you have to do is just rename the file and there you have it! :D

Click on it, hit return, edit the extension and then mount it as you would any other image.

    Yea, i figured it out.

I downloaded that fan controlling application, its helping to keep the heat just where i like it. I also partitioned my external HD and made one for time capsule and another just for storage.

Just wondering how i can hide the dock when i'm playing games. When i play football manager the dock shows and it limits a few of the options near the bottom of the screen and it just looks ugly. How can i fix this?

All you have to do is turn hiding on.

Click on the Apple Button in the top left>Dock>Turn Hiding On

Then itll stay hidden unless you bring your mouse down there to access it.

yea, i went thru them last night. I can basically do everyday tasks right now with ease. I'm a very lazy person and little things that OSX does to make like easier really helps.

I also like how everything is interrelated.

I just need to buy a nice sleeve and maybe a skin. Any suggestions would be great

another question, the plastic on the left side of my macbook (where all the ports are), flexes a little bit when pressed, the other side does not, is this normal?

Hmm, its doesn't happen for me, but I guess its not a big deal. As long as it still protects that area.
