Yea it sucks, None of the stores in Georgia have received any glossy LED MBPs since the upgrade. Not sure when they are getting them in. Been waiting for days now just moping around the local shops hoping to get one when they get a shipment. They apparently have more matte screens than they can sell easily, but glossy is just gone. Is there a glossy screen shortage or something? It is surprising that Apple did not make sure they had stock for the shops when it was announced, well maybe it is not too surprising, but it sucks either way.

I myself refuse to settle for the matte, and one of the local managers is giving me an extra 10% off on my macbook pro on top of the educational discount, so that is what is keeping me from ordering online. IMO glossy is currently becoming the standard on LCD screens. Even for desktop LCDs, if ya go look at Frys or Best buy, the majority are now Glossy because it just looks brighter and clearer (again, imo.)

I'm not sure why one would be "settling" for the matte; frankly, looking at the new MBP's side by side, I actually prefer the matte; colors still look great and crisp (watched the Ratatouille preview on both screen types), and there was no glare from the lights overhead.

Again, to me, the glossy side by side looked much brighter. As with the many other topics on this subject though, everyone thinks different and have different opinions. I'm just pissed apple did not stock the stores with them before release!

Edit: Oh yea, they also tried to convince me to go with the older version since they had plenty of those glossy models saying that the screens looked pretty much the same, I laughed.

    ...

Did he really expect you to take him up on that offer?

I wouldn't have bought a MBP period if it wasn't for the new screen :p

I was in NC over the weekend and the only 15" glossy screens were in the 2.4 GHz config. I went into the AS with the intention of purchasing a 2.2 GHz, but I didn't need my arm twisted too much to go for the next model. ;P Best of luck in getting one soon.

Obviously not, they are not on commission are they? Well, neither is Best Buy technically, but If you want to keep your job there you better sell, and sell a lot or they get rid of you pretty fast so you might as well be on commission.

I Would be more pissed off at apple in general since this is my first apple/mac computer, but that extra 10% off two grand is appealing enough that they could probably call me a rat b*stard and I would still be ok in the end. Someone might get punched though =p
