I would just like to mention that I occasionally have nightmares about breaking the screen on my MacBook Air, then wake up and frantically open the thing just to make sure nothing is wrong.

LOL, J.R Nelson is spot on! I don't know why it is but I sometimes have dreams of knocking my MBP off the bed when I've fallen asleep with it on my lap. Then I wake up and everything's fine. Scares me. I think it comes from being way too obsessive over worrying about my "perfect" computer when at the end of the day it's probably more durable than most of the heavy duty thick PC laptops.

I've got something to take your mind off it....

Think about the sporadic reports of battery swelling that expands the case and bends the keyboard. And the real horror of the Genius Bar guy that tells you it's your fault. You should have replaced the battery for no good reason the day before.

I used to have one of the prototype Celio Redflys that that happened to. Lots of battery swelling.

never had a dream about crushing my screen but almost did it on accident. Im taking meds that make me very active in my sleep. I speak and move. anyway I was having a dream I was being attacked by a bear and to get out of the way i rolled in my dream really hard and fast to dodge the bear attack and also rolled in real life. I flew over the side of my bed and landed on a fan and crushed the fan. the computer was on the floor right next to my bed. i rolled so hard I actually landed on the other side of laptop. The fan is dead. better then the laptop though. it was strange waking up on the floor on top of stuff.

You’d be surprised how strong those screens are. I’m pretty sure the LCD panel is the same in the MBP13 and the Air13. I’ve dropped my MBP13 a few times, onto concrete floors. Each time the screen was fine, even when the drop was screen down with the notebook open. The hard drive in the MBP13 has shattered twice… nothing is worse than a hard drive maraca. :D

Yeah. The only time you really need to worry about a screen actually becoming damaged in modern notebooks is if you have pressure perpendicular to the screen face. Then they're pretty weak (unless you get some spiffy gorilla glass-clad ultrabook).
