So lots of sites have been speculating about a refresh of the MBP line up, since it's been ~3 years since the unibody construction was first released.

"Some reports are tied to a month-old Intel advertisement that shows a black-clad MacBook Pro, while others are pointing to a carbon-composite expert that Apple recently hired."

Here is the "new" apparent design:

If it's carbon fiber, it's going to way more expensive than aluminum since it's much lighter and in demand

Doubt the rumors... just wait until a news release

I don't know...with all the money then spent on the manufacturing process for unibody construction, I doubt they'd change it up in only 3 years. Look back at the old generation of Macbook Pros and Powerbooks. THey held the same design for 5-6 years. I think the unibody will go another year at least...

Apple has hired a Carbon Fiber expert, but I guess only time will tell since they only refreshed the MBP recently. I mean it would be nice considering there would be a significant drop in weight, a long with being much tougher (no dents!), but carbon fiber is much more expensive than machined aluminum, and I can't imagine higher prices for Macbook Pros

For sure it'd be awesome to see a design change, but I think that'll happen in 2012.

I always thought Apple wasn't interested in the carbon fiber route due to the environmental unfriendliness this material involves (and the company's effort to publicize the opposite image).
About the Intel ad, I've seen them promote their products with images of "generic" notebooks (that one does seem to be based on the MBP).
On a personal note, if carbon fiber is better, then bring it on.

Apple has been using aluminum/metal in their pro line of notebooks ever since the PowerBook G4 Titanium so they might be looking to change things up for future releases. I definitely don't think that is going to happen this year as the MBP line has already received their annual "major" refresh (with another spec bump about 4-5 months from now).

The Intel ad is just a Photoshop job. at&t has done bad Photoshop advertisements before where they carried over the default home screen of an iPhone onto an Android handset. That doesn't mean that Google is going to pay Apple so that they can make Android look exactly like iOS. Just do a Google search for "sucks at photoshop" and you will see a bunch of hits where some company released an ad that either features a generic looking product modeled after something popular or some type of mismatch between different products (iOS on an Android handset).

Intel HAS leaked Mac information before. They ran a contest for employees and the prize was an i5 Macbook Pro (which wasn't released or announced yet), so this could be possible.

I think the Intel ad speculation is ridiculous.

Intel photoshops a thin black laptop and people assume is a macbook.

that's not why. if you look closely, there is a set red yellow green buttons at the top left of one of the apps in a separate picture.. along with Apple always using pictures of surfboarding, and the App itself apparently looks like a Mac-specific app (not sure on that one, just read it).

The amount of times Intel has leaked Apple information pales in comparison to the amount of ads companies have released with bad photoshop jobs. I am not saying you are wrong, I am just saying that there is a high probability that Intel just took the display that Apple uses in their ads and photoshopped it onto a generic black notebook. Besides, if the ad were to truly be believed, we would have already seen that MacBook Pro come out as Apple has already put the second generation Core i5 and i7 processors in the MacBook Pro.
