Its coming in the next two-three months almost certainly. The release of Mac OS X Leopard, Centrino Pro (Santa Rosa) and around the time to refresh some product lines, Apple should have new Macs in the next two-three months.

And I'm interested at such a confident answer, JimyTheAssassin. Any reason? Well I certainly wish it was Tuesday too! :p.

I think he meant that as a joke, which has its origins in the fact that Apple has traditionally liked having product announcements on Tuesdays for some reason.

The next new portables are likely to come out in summer (once Santa Rosa is out), other products could come earlier I guess but I really have no guesses as to what that would be. I saw a rumor about a product announcement later this month at one of the rumor sites, but that's unsubstantiated so far.

yes I was half joking ...but i'm also half serious. Which tuesday is anyones guess, but I'll put 10 dollars on that day of the week. My honest opinion is we'll be waiting till mid-summer or early fall for a completely new MBP. But new Mac Pros and Macminis should be out late spring

I doubt we'll wait that long for a new MBP. imacs will be updated first. There will be no update for the Mac Pro because it doesn't use the C2D platform.
It will go iMac first, then MBP, mac mini, MB. At least, thats my guess. I'm betting that they are selling more laptops than desktops right now. We should see updates in 2 months or so. But it will largely depend on Santa Rosa availability. If Intel has stocking issues like they did with C2D, then everyone will see it late, so I'd say 3-4 months.
    Otherwise I'm betting May.

Man, apple really needs to make a freaking C2D based tower... I dont' want an imac or a macmini, but I don't really want the Xeons in the Mac Pro.

but yup, definently tuesday. you're right, which one is the real question :p

Actually most believe the Mac Pro will be the first to be upgraded to dual Quad Cores. After that it is anyone's guess, but as time passes the rumors get more intense and more outlandish, so have fun! If you are wondering when to buy, just do it when you are ready. Very rarely does a new revision produce something so revolutionary that you would hate yourself for upgrading earlier.

Yeah, but the Mac Pro's don't use the same platform, thus can't be upgraded at the same time. They're on a seperate chip line (they don't use Santa Rosa) and it won't disrupt the rest of hte Mac updates.
but Quad Core Xeons would be... bad ass.. However, I want a C2D Mac Pro so I can do SLI in there.

Man this is rough. I only got a return policy on my Sony Vaio C till early June. If these updates don't happen by May, i'll kick myself for not just buying my Macbook Pro now.

definitely hoping for an April or early May refresh, is there any possibility of that at all.

no one knows. Just buy when you want to. There will be something else new coming out right away anyways.
