How can I put an SSD in a 250gig 2.4 core2duo MBP? Will I be able to have two drives in the computer (the optical drive space or ???)? If not how large an
SSD, which one, and about what price? Is it difficult to make the change and is there any company that does it for you. (The computer is out of its Mac warranty.)

You can put any SSD in it, any size.. Go ahead and get one and install it yourself.. Not really hard to DIY. Search google for how to change the hard drive.

Price? You decide what size SSD you need vs price.. we have no idea what you want.

About having two drives, i don't think so, macbook use special slot-in drives.

So you have to change the 250GB disk out... I'd get a usb sata caddy to go with the new SSD, that way you can still use the 250GB drive via USB and make use of the space when you're sitting at home/work

You can ask around the usual (fry's, microcenter etc), but I believe they do have promotions where if you buy from the store, they install it for a cheaper price or even free! at certain times.

no.. you can get OptiBay enclosures... a few companies make them, and take out your optical drive and put in a second hard drive or SSD. It makes more sense to have an optical drive external over a hard drive since they are used much less frequently.

Really? Damn! :D Now you made me happy!

I recently went over to MacBooks, i've always had windows laptops otherwise which i always did that too them, changed the DVD/CD to a second HDD, as you say, it makes more sense to have the DVD/CD as an external device rather than an internal!

Where can you find these optibays? Do they make them for early 2008 MacBooks and onwards? Or does it apply to late 2008 and onwards?

Thanks for the link and all :)

But that's expensive for what it is, which is just common adapters. I'll go ebay on those :) I think it'll be 1/3rd of the price or something like that.. Should be 10-15$ for the caddy and same for the superdrive caddy to usb..
So it would make a lot of sense if they "threw" in the optical bay caddy as just selling the caddy for 99$ is way to much, i don't like it when companies like that take advantage of others and sell things for a huge overprice just because people don't know better!
