This may sound like a stupid question that could be answered with a bit of research, but here I go. I am used to Windows and have never really tried much else (a bit Ubuntu, thats it). I've pretty much fallen in love with the design of Macs and the features of the just announced new laptop series. My question is though, can I properly game on it - older games, as well as the newer ones like Crysis? also, can any Windows application be installed on it - either natively or through emulation (does it work properly?).
I still use software which isn't specifically available for Mac, so I guess I need to think of more than just the design and new features.
Any information is appreciated, thanks.

Macs have at least two ways to run Windows:
-Virtual Machine - basically a windows "box" running in a VM window in MacOS.
This way will allow quick access and will run most office apps wonderfully, but you lose too much performance to properly game on.
-Bootcamp to Windows - this is running Windows natively on an Intel processor and results in similar performance to a PC. (Macs are basically the same hardware as a PC with a few exceptions only using a different OS)
Using Bootcamp you will be able to game just fine... about as well as any 9600m GT which should be similar to an 8600 GT. The 9600m GT is no powerhouse... (as my 15-month-old laptop will beat it soundly) but it will do just fine as long as you do not ask too much of it. -
Thanks for the quick reply. Sounds like I really should consider a Macbook for my next laptop
Question, looks like Bootcamp comes with Leopard. Do I need to purchase this individually or does it by any chance come with this new 13,3" Macbook?

Boot Camp is part of OS X Leopard, so it will come free with any Mac running Leopard.
-
But, does the new 13,3" Macbooks run Leopard?
-
Yeah...all new Macs come with the latest Mac OS X. And Leopard is the latest Mac OS X.
-
Just to clarify... using the macbook and not the macbook pro, you will have only the integrated nvidia GPU and not the 9600GT.
The 9400 will be severely limited in gaming potential. -
I see. Thanks for the quick replies, guys.
New to mac, few questions I'd like answered
