Ok, could some of the new owners feel the back of their mbp and tell me whether you have any hot air blowing out the right port? I can only seem to feel hot air moving out the left side of the exhaust and don't feel much of anything on the right. My fan rpm's look normal but I'm just wondering if this is by design. Thanks.

Hm, you're right. I don't really feel much warmth from the right side.

The other interesting fact I'm noticing is that there is definite thermal issues with the laptop closed. My temps will slowly creep up towards 90C while playing Fallout 3 or other games within Vista with the laptop closed and it will eventually shut down for safety. The temps are much more controlled and kept lower with the lid open. It looks like people who want to play games on an external display will need to start leaving the laptop open while doing this to be safe.

try undervolting the CPU, i shaved off around 10 degrees
another tip is to loging to OSX, install SMCFanControl, crank up the fan to 6200rpm, reboot under vista, the fan should keep the same speed..

i am running TF2 for over 3 hours at max settings at around 60 degrees celsius

Thanks Stronger, what did you use to undervolt the gpu? I tried reading the bios into nibitor under Vista but it won't recognize the gpu nor read in the values correctly so that I can change the voltage tables. I'm about to try using nvflash to write the bios to file off my usb stick and then try editing it in nibitor. What programs did you use? Thanks.

Heya groove, I see you've sold your m15x and went for the new MBP :)

Here's a pic of my m15x besides my cousin's new MBP. As you can see, the MBP is less than half as thick as the m15x. It wouldn't be a good idea to close that lid after gaming on it for quite a while.

Oh, and the build quality of the MBP is AMAZING. My only complaint about it is I get mildly electrically shocked by touching that chassis from time to time :)

Hey man! That's a great pic. :) I'm thoroughly pleased with the mbp and OSX so far and don't think I'll go back to pc/Windows in the foreseeable near future. The build quality is exceptional and light years beyond what any pc manufacturer has to offer, including Alienware. Congrats on the machine! I hope you keep enjoying it.
