I have bought the new just released Macbook Pro 2.4ghz, and I also bought 2x2GB DDR3 OCZ ram which I installed.

However, the laptop freezes are a couple of minutes of use! Sometimes it freezes straight after it logs in and other times freezes only after a few minutes.

I then installed the old ram, and it worked fine.

Is the ram faulty, or did I not install it correctly, or is it not compatible (the link for the ram is below so you can see if I bought the right one)

    Would really appreciate your help!

bad ram, it's not uncommon, just RMA the bad stick and get a new one.

ok, thanks a lot for your response.

Do you think I will be ok, buying the same ram from the same company again whilst waiting for the refund for the faulty ones?

i think the procedure is that you ship in your bad ram and they replace it. if you buy the ram again, then you will have 2 sets of memory. too much.

I think you can also try a different company like Crucial which is generally cheaper and uses Micron chips.

I bought memory from Crucial for the New late 2008 MBP, and I had the same freezing problem. After memory tests using MemTest for mac, it said the ram was fine. Not sure what the issue is, but I am returning the memory. If you can find Samsung memory, that is what my OEM memory is, so you might have better luck with that. For now I am sticking with the old memory until this issue is proven just a fluke. If you or anyone has better luck with new memory please let me know, but for now I am staying away from Crucial.

Does anyone know what timings Apple uses in their DDR3-1066? It's possible Apple requires lower or higher timings than what is available from third-parties right now.
