    The new 15-inch MacBook Pro is better for the environment, thanks to its new mercury-free display. Backlit by light emitting diodes (LEDs), the display weighs less and is more power efficient than the cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs) which most notebooks employ, and provides full brightness immediately after the system is turned on.

    the weight difference between the old and new models:

    the new one is 5.4 lbs (2.45Kgs)

    as far as I can tell the old one is 5.6 lbs (2.54Kgs)... 90grams of difference.

    I wonder if battery life is noticeably affected :)

    Battery life is now up to 6 hours from 3...My computer is obsolete already...

    The 15 inch now has up to six hours of battery life.. i hope its around 4 hours with wifi/full brightness

    anyway, I just ordered one with my educational discount + 30gb ipod and printer.

    I have been waiting for back lit LED MBP forever now. I am extremely happy :)

    The discounts are only available for those who studying in US, aren't they? I'm a student from the Czech Republic - coming to US next week and I would like to buy MBP.. Is there any good discount except the college discount? :(

    lol, a lot of us feel that way when newer better stuff comes out. dont sweat it...these mbps will be obselete in what, like a week? haha jks
