SSD up to 512GB is an option. What was the max capacity for the last gen?

I am more interested in 'antiglare and high-resolution display options'
hope there is some high res option for the 15

Not sure... really nice update actually. But the rumors of a new MBA like body with a 3.7 pound weight raised my expectations.

Do they normally use IPS or some similar tech with the display panels?

To the 15/17, the quadcore + 6750 are definitely very nice. The 13 seems to have lost 3 hrs of battery life w/o losing any weight unfortunately. It's still a bit chunky for a 13".

OUt of curiosity, would it be possible to upgrade certain components of the previous macbook pro (like to match certain components of todays release) at the apple store?

It's one board that holds everything from the processor to the graphics chip to the ports. There's nothing to upgrade but the memory or hard drive. Depending on if they shifted the ports/fan assemblies, you could potentially drop a whole board in but I somehow think that's going to cost as much as buying a complete unit once you sell the previous gen.

They use fairly good 6-bit (maybe even 8-bit) TN panels w/ LED backlight but still far inferior from any IPS panel.

Seeing no difference in the chassis while adding quads and faster graphics makes me wonder about the temps these things will see...

    Plus, the prices skyrocketed.

Quad cores in that 1 inch chassis! With mid-high GPU!??! Incredible. Not many other companies have something to compete with the 15'' and 17''. Maybe the Envy's.... maybe those upcoming Sony's.

Those are going to get HOT! OW! And the price!! OUCH.

Don't be fooled; the 6750M is far below even the weakest high-end GPU. Also, with Sandy Bridge, it's actually not that hard. You can put a quad in a 13-inch laptop with proper cooling.

All I'm seeing here is greed and a deep need for a redesign.

At least 6750M is still an upgrade, be thankful for that. Everything else is a downgrade.
And all other OEMS will be getting Sandy Bridge soon, initially some OEMs actually already launched Sandy Bridge it was because of the Intel bug that they were recalled.

Oh yeah, it's a nice upgrade. If Apple didn't severely underclock it, I'd estimate that around 50% more power than Apple's underclocked 330M is possible.

I think I read that the lower battery life is due to a change in the way Apple measures battery life, i.e. more realistic as opposed to max. possible. Not sure though. Can't believe the new models will have less, that doesn't make sense especially when all the competitors such as Lenovo and Sony have drastically increased battery life.

So for this Thunderbolt port, I assume someone will be selling adapters/hubs/whatever so we can actually use the port for other things as well if we have an external monitor that has to use that port already?

I think the hype machine got everyone carried away with their expectations. I'm definitely upset about the lack of even the option to upgrade the resolution in the MBP 13. I think with the higher res screen, half a pound less weight and 7 to 10 hours of battery life, the MBP 13 becomes the perfect laptop for me. As for what upgrades we did get I think they're pretty damn good. Core i5 and i7 in the MBP13 and Quad Cores in the MBP 15 and 17 is pretty awesome. I was expecting i3 and i5 in the MBP 13 and just upgraded Dual Core i5 and i7 in the MBP 15 and 17. I think its a worthy update for a mid-cycle refresh. The next upgrade is the one that is really gonna the generational change that everyone has been waiting for. Patience folks.
