Is there a lot of backlit bleeding on the new Macbook PRO 13"? My 13" unibody Macbook has horrible backlit bleeding. We are looking for a second computer and want to go with this notebook (Macbook PRO 13") as we love our current Macbook unibody, except for the screen which has bad backlit bleeding. Are the new screens much better? I can't find any information\pictures comparing both...

It's on the bottom mostly but also on the left side. I don't see any on the right. There is just a little bit on the top, but hardly worth mentioning.

No problems at all on my 17" , see if you can get a replacement , say the screen if flickering as well.

I bought mine way back, so it's too late for that. Thanks for your help though. At least I know that they are not all like that. I will try to find out if there is still a chance of getting one like that on the new pro screens or if they are improved.

If you bought your macbook unibody before april march then yeah your screen is pretty bad compared to the new MBP13 screens or the MB screens that came out during March April. If not, chances are the screen quality on the MBP 13 is going to be slightly better.

Ok, the new ones must be amazing since this one still looks good even with this issue.

Are the screens in the late unibodies the same as the current 13" PRO screens?

From what I can tell, my mbp screen is uniform throughout. It does look very nice however, even if it is bleeding somewhere. Love watching movies on it, stunning quality.

No. Apple updated the screens in June '09. The newer screens have upto 60% better gamut, but I can't see that affecting your issue.

Has it always been like this? When did you buy it?

Yeah, it was like then when I bought it from the Apple Store (apple.com). We don't have an Apple Store anywhere close to my place and I probably would of had to pay for shipping to ship it back to the US to have it fixed, so I just lived with it. It was bought in February.

    Ah, where do you live?

You could always ask how much it'd cost to replace the screen. Most likely less than getting a new Macbook Pro

I live in Canada. Say I buy another one from the Apple site and I have an issue like this, would they exchange it for me or would I have to pay 10% restocking fee + shipping?

No. You're wrong; there has been a couple of reports of getting screens significantly better than previous models in the last month or so of the production of the unibody Macbook. There was a thread on this forum concerning the exact issue.

Sorry I just realised you had the Macbook Alu. Which means you bought it in Feb. of this year? In which case Apple might fix it. Have you called up?
About the restocking fee and shipping, most likely they'll have you pay it if you're returning the item, for exchanging it might just be the shipping cost.

I know there were a few reports of better screens in 13" Alu. Macbooks leading up to the June '09 event, but I just thought these were the screens Apple was putting in the new 13" Macbook Pros post June '09.
Sorry I don't seem to understand where I'm wrong? :s
