So, I would like to Boot Camp my MBP and play games like Dirt 2 and 3, Need for Speed Carbon, and especially Microsoft Flight Simulator X at maximum possible settings at about 30-40 FPS. I will also be using it for Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as simple word processing and internet browsing. So, basically, I will be using it for everything. My budget is $2200, $2300 at the VERY most. 15 is the only size I am considering. One more thing: coming from a 1920 x 1080 screen, I will ABSOLUTELY need the hi-resolution screen option - that is a must. So, anyway, these are the two possible configurations: (oh, and, please don't recommend a PC, I really want a Mac)

    Option 1

    - 2.2 Ghz Core i7
    - 8 GB RAM
    - HD 6750M 512 MB VRAM
    - 500 GB 5400 RPM
    - Hi-res glossy screen
Final Price: macmall's website isn't working right now

    Option 2

    - 2.4 Ghz Core i7
    - 4 GB RAM
    - HD 6770M 1 GB VRAM
    - 750 GB 7200 RPM SATA
    - Hi-res glossy screen
    Final Price: $2,344

That second option is really stretching my budget. So, the graphics card is much better in the second one. The only thing that is worrying me is the 4 GB RAM might not be sufficient for Photoshop and Illustrator.

Upgrade Ram on your own for $50, its much cheaper. That would put your first one at like $1950. You are looking at a minimal increase in FPS from the second one to the third. Maybe 3-5 FPS boost and that is pushing it. It isn't really going to let you turn settings up. The 6750 is the same card for the most part, the only thing that is annoying is the 512 mb of Ram so in some games like SC2 you wouldn't be able to use ultra textures.

Actually, that's not the right price. MacMall's website is having trouble.

The real question here is whether the 6750M is enough for my needs. The card itself is fine but what worries me is the 512 MB memory.

I'd get the best GPU you can now... the rest you can upgrade later. In a year or so when you have more money, take the higher end one and change it to a SSD and 8GB of ram.

Yes, that is probably what I'm going to do. Thanks everybody.
