    Hi fellas!
Just came back from the Apple store with a brand new MBP and by God it's gorgeous! My girlfriend and I spent about 1.5 hours at the store, playing with every feature the MPB offers. I've been a PC user for over 15 years, and have stayed loyal until today!! ;)

Anyhow, I just have a few quick questions.

    1. What's the max amount of ram the MPB can have?
    2. What's the best antivirus/antispam program for a mac?
    3. Is there some kind of update available from Apple, similar to window's update from Microsoft?

Congrats on the new MBP! Here's the answers to your Q's:

    1. 4 GB is the max, which you can achieve by putting in 2x2GB PC5300 memory in there. It doesn't have to be Apple's memory, it can be another manufacturer's memory, such as OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, etc. Just make sure its laptop memory and not desktop memory.
    2. You really don't need one of these :D
    3. Yep, Apple has its own update utility, which you can open by clicking on the Apple symbol in the top-left corner and selecting "Software Update..."

Edit: hehe, beat me to it Xander!

Virus protections on a Mac...? Haha, this isn't Windows man, no need for that RAM hogging garbage :D Congrats, hope you like it after the initial "honeymoon" period :p

Oh geez... where do I start? First off, the backlit keyboard is just mind-boggling. I'm having a blast with that. I also feel a bit awkward and maybe a little uneasy knowing that I don't have any antivirus software installed, but I'm sure I'll get used to that very soon. The viewing angles are great too and are better than all my Asus notebooks, however, I did notice very slight light leakage on the bottom and top of the screen.
I'm currently installing the software updates, and for some reason underneath the keyboard it gets really hot (more so than my Asus C90s). I haven't installed smc fan control yet, but will do so asap.

The heat is normal, nothing to worry about. When you're installing stuff or doing anything demanding, it gets hot. This is because the metal frame draws heat out more efficiently than plastic, however that means it also gets hotter... smc fan control is ok for just comfort, but isn't really needed.

    Congrats, emporiumboutique! :)

Your questions have been answered already, but I'll just back them up again :p.

    1) The Santa Rosa MacBook Pros support up to 4 GB of RAM.

    2) Don't get antivirus for Mac, its not necessary right now. Maybe later on, but for now, you'll get more trouble from antivirus than it will help you. Just turn on the Firewall, and you're set!

    3) Apple Software Update (found under the Apple icon in Menu Bar) is the application that updates software when Apple releases new versions :).

And as trueintentions noted, its worth checking out the two guides by Apple!

Hi guys, I think I'm having some problems with the trackpad. For some reason, the cursor movement is very choppy. I tried using the wireless mouse and it still gave the same choppy movement. Does anyone have any clue about this?

Yeah, good to know you got it fixed. Most Mac OS X issues can be fixed by a simple restart :).

If you start experiencing lag after waking it up from sleep, it may be caused by iStat Pro or smcFanControl. I had lots of issues waking it up from sleep with these temp monitoring things running. It wouldn't wake up at all, or it would give me very very choppy mouse movement. So if you have either running, turn it off before it goes to sleep.
