I don't think you can, as I just looked in system preferences and Googled it. Sorry! :(. Why would you need it disabled, just wondering.

OK thx! Well I tend to touch the pad when I'm typing so it interferes some, but actually haven't tested it too much since I just got this last week. My g/f has a MBP and it disables the pad automatically when you plug in mouse. On my PC I have to disable it, so i was just wondering if it was possible.
I will be using the MB for work since i was able to install remotedesktop, but when I'm away on work I'd like to sneak in a game of WoW and my hand touches the pad, so creates minor problem. Thx again for quick response. :D

So I guess that's another difference between MBs and MBPs, because I could have sworn that I have the option to disable trackpad when a mouse is connected either under Mouse/Keyboard settings or Trackpad settings.

Under System Preferences/Trackpad, you dont see the check boxes for "Ignore accidental trackpad input", and "Ignore Trackpad when mouse is present"?

Nope, I have a screenshot of it in an attachment... So I guess we found another difference between the MB and the MBP...

That's strange my old white mb, has the ability to ignore the track pad when a mouse is present.
Although to be honest I never enabled it as I'm often using both interchangeably.

I used to disable the trackpad on my other laptops, but with mbp's trackpad, I found that, when you touch it with some part of your hands while you are typing, it doesnt make the cursor jump all over the place, it's almost like it knows that it isnt your fingers that make contact with the trackpad.

    ^^^

Same here, I've never disabled it and never had any issues. I did however have the "ignore accidental trackpad inputs" checked.

Sometimes when I type, the cursor will jump all over the place, and it gets really annoying. A couple times, I have been typing long posts and suddenly it will highlight the whole thing and when I press another key, it erases all of what I've typed.

You must have the "dragging" option turned on, because the same thing happened to me a few times since I turned that on.

I had it on, but I turned it off about a week ago. I have the tap-to-click, so that might be my problem..

I have the tap clicking and don't have this issue; must be something else.

I have no clue, but it's not to the point where I can't type anymore, so it'll be ok. ;)
