I got a new peryn based mbp and only got the 2gb ram option since to get 4 gigs was waaay too expensive.

I want to get 2 more gigs from new egg....but I want to be sure the ram is the right fit with compatibility and all...can someone help me with the specifics here? Which ram do I get?

    Thanks!

You'll need to get 2 sticks of 2GB ram, though, because there's 2 sticks of 1GB in there now. Any of these should work just fine.

Hey, they dropped the price of the ram to $400. Great price break from what it was before. But yeah, get some from newegg and you'll be good.

Easy to install. Even has directions in the book on how to do it.

Is 4GB going to make a big performance difference? Should I get it too?

If you can afford $80-100* then yes, it would be very worth it to upgrade.

(*Prices are in US dollars. Batteries not included. Some assembly required)

i think its pc 5300 = 667mhz. thats the stuff you want

pc 5300 200 pin ddr2 667mhz ram. you have to buy 2x2GB sticks, because you have 2 slots total for ram in your laptop. you'll have to toss the ram in there currently.

The difference is one is DDR2-800 and the other is DDR2-667. Your MBP will support either one but because the Santa Rosa platform only supports up to DDR2-667 the memory will be downclocked to that speed if you buy the faster DDR2-800 (PC2-6400).
