So my new MBP is cool and all with no problems yet BUT 1 minor(? ?) issue I am having is that it is really hard to pull the magsafe plug out of the notebook. It takes 2 hands and considerable amount of force to pull the thing out. If I tripped over the cord I have a feeling it will drag the entire notebook to the ground... is it like this because its new? Or are all macbooks (old and new) like that?

On a side note while I was reading Sam's switcher's guide he said to register your new notebook. What are the advantages of doing so?

I tilt the magsafe plug either up or down on the long sides (like say opening a hot dog bun) and it comes off easily. It is not meant to be directly pulled off like a standard notebook power plug. When you or someone trips over the cord, the plug will tilt downward (because the cord is being pulled down vertically) and there will not be enough surface area for the magnets to hold onto each other strongly (since the plug is tilted) so the magnets will "lose their grip" and the plug safely "ejects".

No problem. Oh, and to sort of answer your "on a side note..." question, registering with Apple probably gets you stuff like an Apple newsletter or better support or update notifications. A devoted Mac user could probably answer this better (Only my sister has a Mac, which happens to be a MBP 2.0).

haha lol. I personally never register my stuff if all the company is going to do is spam my email inbox with useless crap. I don't know what Apple does though.
