They even have the Core 2 Duo's now, but sadly its only in the 2.33GHZ version. Also I just found this out today that you can use an education discount in the refurbished section. Thats really cool and I was never aware of that.

Are you actually getting a lower price on refurbs with your student discount than without? I don't think the student discount applies to refurbished units.

It means it is refurbished. It is likely a unit that was returned for some reason or was defective then fixed.

Just got myself a 15 inch C2D 2.33mhz 2Gig Ram Macbook Pro at $1999 for almost a savings of $500. I then had 2 gift cards (one for $1000 and one for $250).

Basically got myself the laptop, then was able to spend the cash I saved on the new 802.11n router, a case, the rhythm band jam pack, and a $130 all in one printer(with a $100 rebate) for a total of $1467(WITHOUT the $100 mail in rebate, which I will get a check for). Not a bad deal at all!

For those of you who have refurbised Mac's, how has your experience been with them? Is it a risky venture? I am looking at buying a refurb myself. Thanks!

Refurbs are great. Why? They go through quality control...twice. Many have had great experiences as well as free upgrades (RAM/HD). Next Mac I'm purchasing is a refurb.

Any part that was defective upon initial return by the original owner is replaced by a brand new part, which if a new product is released during that time frame, may result in a welcome surprise upgrade for the buyer of said refurb.

Did you actually get a $1000 gift card??

Also, student discounts seem to be just $50 - how much are refurbs discounted in genereal percentage wise?? How about warranty?

Surprisingly, yes...I accepted it as payment for a job I had done. Refurbs are normally discounted 20%-25%, sometimes even 30%(or thereabouts) on a core duo. The warranty is EXACTLY the same as a new mac (90 phone support, 1 year manufacturer's warranty). That was the deal sealer for me, personally.
