I am getting ready to purchase a new laptop. I need to start getting organized at home and have a home office set up that runs flawlessly to help me stay on top of things. Aside from the usual, we will be facing home renovations and repairs soon, and I will have a project going on of putting old photos and home movies onto the computer.
Right now, we have two laptops in the house, no desktop, a wireless network with DSL, and a deskjet printer that is just ok but is not in the wireless network and is a pain.
I would like to add peripherals that will all work together with a Mac and with each other on a home wireless network that will help keep me organized and on track with these upcoming projects.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
adam

Maybe a wireless network drive, so that both laptops can access it and back up files on it.

You will need a router or a switch to which you can connect peripherals, such as your printer (assuming your printer does not have a network port). A device such as Time Capsule or Aiport Extreme will enable you to do that. However, I am sure you will be able to find switches/routers which do the same at a much better price.

I second the Time Capsule recommendation; it sounds like just what you need. Read the review on it here.

I just got an airport express, to share my printer and stream music to my speakers. It works quite well, very few problems so far. I already had a networked Lacie big ethernet disk which works well for sharing files. But I also agree that time-capsule maybe a good option for you.
The only thing I can suggest is to checkout the compatible printers for the timecasule, I know that the list for the airport express is far from complete....but luckly my canon ip3000 was on the list!

Time Capsule is a really good idea, I really want to see how well it all integrates.
