Do these latest MBPs allow for relatively easy end-user hard drive replacement?

Was hoping to use my own HD or SSD. Does popping open the MacBook void any warranties? Have not used an Apple computer for years, much less purchased one.

The unibody MBP's have relatively easy hard drive access, and replacing it does not void the warranty. The documentation that comes with the laptop even explains exactly what to do.

Pre-June, the 15" Unis had a small area that came off, and the 17" Unis required the entire bottom panel to be removed. As of June, they *all* require the entire bottom panel to be removed. This is very easy and just requires a very small Phillips screwdriver. There are also mounting screws on the stock hard drive that require a Torx T6 to get off and put on the replacement drive.

Just make sure you separate your screws so that you don't get them mixed up.

On mine I had 3 different sizes for the panel, Don't know if they changed it for these new models.

On my 17", there are two different sizes, with 3 longer screws along the screen hinge side. The manual shows you which screws go where, so you can't mess up. At least, my 17" manual shows me. I assume the 15" and 13" MBPs now show you too.
