    Network Storage: CIFS vs AFP?

    Im looking at getting a network storage device....trying to decide between these two

    The QNAP one lists AFP and AppleTalk as some of the supported network protocols. Is this going to be important on my MacBook? All I really want to do with this is have it mounted as a hard drive on the desktop of both my MacBook and Windows PC.

    also, can anyone confirm that if my drives are formatted FAT32 i'll be using CIFS anyway?
