Well this afternoon my router just like crapped out on us. For some odd reason it cant find our ip address and wont connect to the internet. My dad got the dns server and can ping certain sites but still cant connect to the internet through the router whether it b plugged or wireless. So can you guys help me find a good solid router from best buy. I would prefer wireless g cause m sister is using my old alienware which has abg on it bu no n. So it would be unfair to get a router that she would have a hard time with. Also it has to work with windows 2000. Our Pentium 3 is old as hell. Any help would be great.

any of the major brands are fine......

but go ahead and get an "n" router >> they are backwards compatible to "g" and the lower cost versions don't run much more than a good g router

Belkin's always seem to work for me. That one will work fine although i believe it is not as feature rich as some of their other models. But if your not looking to do any serious networking, it should treat you just fine.

I use a D-Link 2310 which has been great and reliable. It has extended range features as well as Turbo-G. I have two notebooks and a PS3 all connected to it in a fairly big house and we get full strength throughout the house and very good speeds, consistently.

I got it for $49 (it was on sale at BB).

I also recommend an "n" router since it will work with any previous letter. If you've got some money and can wait a couple of weeks I'd say Time Capsule would be a good choice. But right now, I'd recommend something from D-Link personally, because I've had a D-Link router for 3 years now and it's never given me any trouble, and always maintains a good connection.
