I'll be going on a trip to the UK soon and I was thinking of buying a macbook pro my only question is which 15 inch model I should choose.
I'm a bit of a gamer and was wondering if the amount of RAM (system and GPU), processor difference between the two models has any sort of big consequence on the laptops performance.

You'll be kicking yourself if you don't get the higher version. Not so much for the RAM and HDD(which you can buy after at a lower price) but for the CPU and GPU.

If you can afford it, go for the higher spec version.

My biggest fear was that the difference in RAM would be noticeable, performance-wise.

The RAM in the MB and MBP is unbelievably fast. The 2GB of DDR3 RAM feels just like 8GB of DDR2 667 RAM in my old desktop.

Thanks for the quick response guys, so basically if I have the money I should go for the 2.53 GHz model? Time to start saving again :p

Yes, get the higher end model if you can afford it. It'll give you better performance and make the machine a tad more future-proof. Don't worry about RAM though (as far as notebook shopping in general goes). You can always add more yourself.
