As in my signature, my old MBP was stolen.

My new Penryn MBP arrived today and I am wondering if I can restore what Time machine backed up from my old MBP to this new one.

    Thanks ;)

I think there is an option when you restore you OS X. However, I don't know if time machine will work on a different computer!?!

You should definitely be able to do this. Put in the Install disc, and select “Restore System from Time Machine” in the Leopard DVD Utilities menu.

You don't even need the install disk. The first time you turn on your new Mac, after you watch the looong Mac commercial, transfer files and settings from a Time Machine backup is one of your options.

Thanks r0k, just did what you said :)

BTW, the Penryn MBP is indeed a LOT cooler!!
My old 2007 MPB goes to 80C playing WoW at max settings.

My new Penryn MBP stays at 65C playing WoW at max setting. I love it!!
