I got the new MBP 13" and I want to upgrade the HDD to a 7200rpm one.

So, which hard drive from newegg (since Im gonna buy the RAM from them) should I get (320GB is what Im looking at)?

Sorry if this has been asked before. I searched the forum and couldn't find anything.

Any 2.5" SATA HDD is compatible with the Macbook. Go for whichever one you like.

Figure out how much space you think you'll need, then double that and that's the size you should go for.
Right now the 320Gb is probably the best bang for buck... and would be a decent choice. But if space is more important then some of the new 500Gb 54000rpm drives (Seagate and WD) perform very well at a decent price point.

Thnx for the replies. What about brands? I read around that it makes a difference. Would it really make that much of a difference? And which one do you recomend if I'm looking for a quiet one?

You cant really go wrong with Western Digital, Seagate or Hitachi. I have drives from all 3 and they have been working fine.

thanks for the help. I looked at all the specs at their official websites and I've decided to get the Seagate one.

I am looking at the 7200rpm/320GB at NewEgg and they have two, the 7200.3 and the 7200.4. I looked at their specs and they are identical. So is there any difference that I should be aware of?

    Appreciate your help

7200.4 is much better and possibly noticably faster.

I got the Seagate 7200.4 320GB. Searching around a lot of people recommend Seagate all over and I also looked at their specs on their official site and compared it to the other brands and it was either equal or better.
