I have an opportunity to get a deal on an iBook G3 with OSX 10.3 on it. I just wanted to ask about OSX 10.3. I know that 10.4 is the newest version and I wanted to get an opinion on the differences between them.

Is 10.3 significantly inferior? Were there known problems with 10.3 that were bad enough that I should only get something with 10.4 on it?

Any information would be very helpful. TIA.

My friend has 10.3 and honestly, you can't really tell the difference between Panther and Tiger - Tiger just has Dashboard and iLife updates, other than that they're pretty much the same.

In a roundabout way, yes. iWeb will allow you to "publish" your website to a folder on your computer. You then have upload it to your server via FTP.

for me, there are some things in tiger i just can't do without, particularily spotlight. and dashboard i find to be quite useful. plus there would be many other little things that you don't see that make tiger much better.

this being said, i have a classmate that is still on panther. but i think he will upgrade to leopard when it comes out around the end of the year.

I use 10.3.9. I have found no reason to upgrade to 10.4. 10.3.9 is a fine OS, and does all I need.

Not likely. Apple likes to keep their secrets nice and quiet.

yeah dashboard does use a lot of virtual memory, but if i need that memory, i just click on my stop dashboard widget. Voila! I have the memory back. Then when i want dashboard back, i just hit the icon (or keyboard shortcut) and it opens again and reloads the widgets.
