I was at Microcenter in Paterson NJ earlier this week. Saw a guy return a brand new 27" Apple Thunderbolt monitor. It was brand new sealed, but they had to open the box to inspect it. The guy ate a 10% restocking fee, not sure why as it was definitely factory sealed.. He didn't care as it was purchased for his client who needs the non-Thunderbolt monitor and Microcenter no longer has any of those.

The monitor is now listed as open box for $899.96. Select the NJ store from the top and you'll see it. Great deal for someone looking for this monitor, even if you're in NYC it might be worth your while to take a short drive as it's only 3.5% sales tax there. Just a heads-up in case anyone from the area is looking to purchase one. I wish I could use it, it's a gorgeous monitor.

Microcenter has been having some good deals over the past year (that is when I started paying attention) when it comes to some Apple products. They were selling the baseline 13" early 2011 MBP for $999 new ($99 off of the educational discount price). I don't know if they are selling the late 2011 update 13" baseline MBP for the same price. I also remember seeing some open box Apple accessories (magic mouse, magic trackpad, and bluetooth wireless keyboard) that were about $30 less than their MSRP. In fact, that is where I purchased my Apple wireless keyboard and magic trackpad. I spent around $85 including tax for both as they were open box.

I do not hesitate buying open box from Microcenter. I've bought 2 13" MBP from them open box, one of which was $799 for some odd reason and it looked and smell brand spanking new, just a customer return. Buying open box from them is really no risk as you don't pay a restocking fee if it's not to your liking since someone else already paid it. In this case I witnessed a brand new monitor being returned and marked down for open box makes it that much better.

They are selling the i5 MC700LL 13" Pro for $999. The updated version MD313LL with the 500GB drive and the slightly faster CPU is 1199. I suspect when they're sold out of the MC700LL the new one will sell for 999.

I need multiple inputs and audio switching on my monitor. If this monitor had it I would have picked it up.
