Help. I ordered my MBP on Sept 11, on that date It was supposed to be arrive sept. 24 to 27. I called on the 25 and they told me it would arrive on the 27th or 28th while the fedex site said 27th. Today I check again and now it is coming on Oct. 2nd. I really need this machine for work.

Does anyone know if I can complain and get SOMETHING? I think they owe it to me, I sure hope a new MBP doesn't come out soon! any input would be great.

    thanks

I doubt you can get anything. I assume the website said it was only an estimate and you also have to realize that it's out of their hands. They shipped it on time (when they said they would) and gave you the arrival date that the shipping company (fedex) estimated. Fedex is taking longer than expected and there's not much that they or that you can do to speed up the process, and I really don't think they owe you anything for it.
You can always try though, call their customer support and tell them what happened and see if they offer you anything. Or maybe someone here has a similar experience and got some free things for their trouble.

You, like many others, had the misfortune of having your purchase shipped by FedEx. Nothing much you can do I'm afraid. If you do wish to complain about FedEx, make sure you complain to Apple for choosing this courier. If you complain to FedEx, you will get nothing but some cheesy receptionist with no knowledge of anything. Although very unlikely, Apple might change their couriers in the future if enough people complain.

There was a typhoon over in china close to one of their plants. This caused a shutdown for 3 days.

People keep mentioning this, but really, from my experience FedEx is a very reliable courier service. My old firm used FedEx to send dozens of time-sensitive legal documents and packages daily, and I have never once heard of a complaint that the package wasn't delivered on time the next morning.

I'm sure delays from their part do occur (they do have an insurance policy) - but I'm also sure that these would be the rare exception. As for circumstances over which they have no control (customs at certain times, natural disasters, etc.), surely you can't blame FedEx for a typhoon (although you could look into the details of their guarantee to see if you could get anything from them :p).

Besides, look at your other options - UPS, DHL, specialized courier services, or the USPS - I'd say FedEx is definitely the lesser of the evils listed here :p

And, FedEx is the last bastion against unions (can anyone else recall the horrors of UPS?)! Support FedEx! :p
...I think anyway. Maybe they caved finally? :/

Incidentally, it was so nice of Apple to e-mail me today and happily congratulate me that my new order will be shipping out sooner than expected. It'll only ship on October 17 instead of 30. Hey, it's not like I only ordered 2 weeks ago. Ah well. Luckily the product I get from Apple usually is worth these delays.....maybe...kinda....hopefully...?

Same here. My experience has always been that FedEx delivers things on time or early in good condition, wheras UPS arbitrarily "reschedules" packages and delivers them obviously abused, with holes in them or with corners of boxes crushed.

There's no perfect shipping company, anywhere you look you'll find people either praising or bashing a certain company. Some will say FedEx is great and that they have problems with UPS, while others will say just the opposite.
Besides that's not the point of this topic (this isn't a discussion on which shipping service is the best).
Like I said above, the arrival dates listed by those companies are usually stated as being estimates, meaning that they can change without notice. For this reason I doubt either FedEx or Apple will give you anything for your few days of waiting. With that in mind, the only real way of finding out is to call the customer support and asking them.
