I just got the new 2.4ghz 2gb ram macbook like 4 days ago and already have had so many problems. The little ones were no big deal but now i cant eject my dvd from my slot drive and it wont even play the dvd. Also i ran xbench and Iam getting a score of 72.09 from a NEW computer. The average is 85. I ran this test right when i turned on the computer with nothing running. Is it just my luck that I get these kind of computers?

Does sound like you have a lemon, unless the DVD you put into your Mac is a dodgy one and has somehow become stuck in the drive (try restarting while holding down the eject key). Call AppleCare or book an appointment at an Apple store and see what they have to say.

It's a normal sized DVD you put into the laptop right?
Cause the slot loading drives dont take the smaller ones, or odd shape ones, if I remember correctly.

Doesn't sound like a lemon to me quite yet. A disc that won't eject, based on what? Perhaps the disc is faulty? And a benchmark test? Call me a cynic, but benchmarks are worthless, and not an indication of anything fruit-like.

And the "little ones." Care to explain more?

Ok, i read about the disk thing being a common problem and i fixed it. Now all i am worried about is the low xBench score..Does anyone find this score really low? I am also having some problems with my screen freezing when i have 3+ things open. I buy a 1300 dollar laptop i dont expect this stuff to happen right away.

In my experience, the folks at the Apple Stores in the area (San Francisco) are extremely helpful, and go out of their way to make sure owners are happy with their new purchases. If you live near a Store, I think you should drop by and have someone check out your machine. If there are real bugs with it, they'll probably just give you a replacement on the spot.

Speaking from experience with problematic MB's, the Apple folks, IMO, will take care of this for you. You shouldn't stew over problems with a new machine. Take it, or send it in for repair or replacement. I doubt you'll be hassled in any way. Apple (and all builders) know that problems crop up occasionally, but have to be made aware of the issues before they can correct them. Good luck.

Agreed with bmwrob. With any computer, if you have any problems, you should always go to the company as soon as possible, so they can work with you. The sooner the better IMHO. :)

I agree with WilliamG, those xbench scores aren't very reliable.. however it wont hurt to take it to an apple store and get them to check it out
