I bought a macbook from Amazon a couple of days ago which arrived today, but it had iLife 08, not 09. Do I have to pay a full $80 or something to get the new version?

No, you can go to Apple's website under iLife and there's an Up To Date program. You can order it free from their website since you just got your Macbook however you will have to pay for shipping fees of $9.95. They don't sell the Up to Date discs locally at the retail stores. http://www.apple.com/ilife/uptodate/

Ohh never mind. I just found an iLife 09 drop-in disc included with the macbook. I'll install it from there.

It's ok, I was freaking out about it too. Then I noticed the iLife 09 Disc. LoL Congrats on the purchase!
