    My MBP won't read dvd's

    when i first got my macbook pro on the 9th, i popped in a dvd and it played it for me. now, when i insert the same dvd it says format not supported. i also tried playing other dvds and i get the same message. can anyone help me out?

    Make sure you have set the proper region.

    Which program are you using, the default iDvd? Did you install any other program lately. Sometimes the DVDs will install their own like Interactual so you can use some of the features with direct link to their websites. You may also wish to repair permissions, often times that clear up whatever minor hiccups I have with mine/

    forgive me but this is my first mac so i dont really know what these mean. i didnt install any new programs and first i tried the idvd program that automatically opens then i tried the dvd thing with the remote.

    Pop in a commercial DVD. "DVD Player" should pop up and ask you to select a region. Then you should be good to go.

    nevermind, it seems my computer just needed a restart? all is good now. thanks for the help though
