Welp, the school I go to offers mac and windows. I fed up with their windows computers so I am trying mac.

We are still using Snow Leopard but hoping it get Lion in a few weeks.

I have been using it for a few weeks and there are still things I am not able to figure out.

    The main on it multitasking.

When I do work I have 6-10 pdfs, powerpoints and multiple work docs.

Now I have it set up is that the bottom left corner show all windows and the lower right corner shows all of that type.

But because I have the mac pro 11 13inch the resolution is a little low and when I look at all those windows I find it hard to find the one I want and they keep changing places.

Also when you click on the dock for a running app it pulls up that window and everything else. It does not let me choose which window I want to bring up...

    Any advise?

Right clicking (or two finger clicking) the icon should list the windows open for that program and then you can pick which one you want to select.

I'm on Lion and have not used SL so I'm not sure if it's the same or not. I miss the Windows 7 task bar to be honest.

I believe SL was the same, right-clicking on an app icon will bring up all of its windows and allow you to choose which one you want to go to. Lion kind of resolved this with updates to Mission Control and Expose. I found that Mission Control worked better when trying to find a specific program/window and Expose was better to use if you had multiple windows open in the same program. For example, if you have 9 PDF documents open through Preview, Expose would be better to use when trying to sort through all of those. Now, if you threw in Safari and a couple other programs, Mission Control would be better to sort through all of those. Better yet, you could also easily create another "desktop" to keep everything organized. Put all of your PDF documents on one working desktop area, create another for Word, etc.

That is all in Lion though. It has been a while since I have worked with SL (having upgraded to Lion in July). You can also use the command-tab function which is similar to alt-tab in Windows.

I think the upgrades to Lion and the way it can manage multiple programs/windows really offer a benefit over the task bar in Windows (which is something that Windows 8 is going to do away with, at least in the main program icon interface of Metro).
