    Hello,

I just recently bought a Minglia TV Mini 2 for my Apple Macbook and it was recommended to me by an Apple staff member saying that I can watch Australian TV channels/shows on my Macbook with the antenna that came with it anywhere, anytime.

I've connected it and installed 'The Tube' after scanning with the antenna and notebook at all different places in the house and at work I've had no luck and received no signals at all.

Is the product just a gimmick? or does it actually work?

I don't know this product in particular, but sales people rarely know the facts - always look them up yourself. Apple staff he might be, but this is a third-party product and if he works in an Apple Store (didn't think you had any there yet?) he is likely just a sales person with little in-depth knowledge of the third-party products they sell.

Check if it's supposed to grab digital or analog tv, and what Australia (or your part of it) currently broadcasts in to see if they match (much of the world is in a transitive stage between analog and digital television right now). That sounds like a likely issue here. Also, the antenna might not be very sensitive, so if you are far away from the broadcasting antenna that could also be an issue.

Let us know if you find the issue or if you need further help narrowing it down.

Looks like its another USB tv tuner.

The problem with these is that they usually come with the cheap little antenna. And unless youre in a big city where the stations broadcast from, you usually wont pick up that great of signal.

From my experiences, you usually get better reception if youre near windows, and you could look into getting a bigger antenna (I think its UHF), or if youre house has one on the roof, try connecting that to it.

Lastly, you should be able to connect your normal cable line into it, so you could watch tv off of that coaxial cable.
