Hey, a friend is asking me to find him memory for his macbook pro (early 2009 model with the core 2 duo).
He said its DDR3, 1066 MHz, pc3 8500. Can he just buy regular notebook memory, or does it have to be special macbook memory? I see under newegg that there is a special mac memory section and that confuses me.
Also, could he put in a 1333 MHz memory like these?

it uses normal memory really.... special Apple memory is a companies way of grabbing extra money off Apple users by claiming they "tested" it on an Apple machine and thats why it costs more.

Just as an FYI, I bought the normal G-Skill 8GB DDR3 SODIMM Kit but had Suspend/Resume issues. I ended up returning the RAM to Newegg and purchasing the "Apple-tested" version they had. It wasn't much more expensive (just a couple of bucks more, but I haven't had any more issues and that along with my HDD upgrade resulted in a really quick boot-time and solid performance.

I bought gskill standard ram, it was screwing up badly... I RMAed both sticks, got replacements... still standard non-Apple ram, and they work fine.
