Hi, I'm considering buying a macbook soon. After reading the "users guide" thread, I found out that I should just order the 512mb from Apple and then upgrade with memory from newegg to save some $.
1.) Would upgrading the memory void the 1 year limited warranty?
2.) I saw recommendations for Kingston, Corsair, and G.skill ram. Is there a difference between them. Is one brand known more for reliability/durability?
Or should I just go for the G.skill which is the cheapest out of the three?
Thanks,
Francis

1. it will not void your warranty
2. go with g.skill as i have tested it on macbook pro and it worked beautifully. However dont go with patriot ram, it will run at 533mhz instead of 667mhz. -
No, memory is a user-installable part and as such exchanging it does not void your warranty. However, keep the original RAM to be able to deny that the extra RAM is causing any issues you might have - or confirm

No it will not void the warrenty -
I'm glad that the user guide is becoming of use to some people, I try to keep it updated as much as possible.
I have 2GB of the G.Skill ram thats in my signature (link to it as well) and it appears to be fully compatible with every Mac computer that uses this type of ram, as I seen many use this ram and state its fully working.
Don't let the low price fool with you either, its high quality ram, even many overclockers out there use the brand as well, thats not to say you should overclock as it will void your warranty.
It's great ram and I highly recommend it.
