    Hello everyone,
I have a MacBook Pro 15.4-inch that utilizes the "Santa Rosa" chipset, from Late 2007. I would like to upgrade the RAM in my Mac however I haven't upgraded a Mac before (this is my first Mac).

I have heard good things about Crucial and OWC and I am able to order OWC at a pretty decent price with shipping (to Canada). Which one should I go with? Anyone here familiar with OWC and their RAM upgrade kits? I am looking to upgrade to 4 GB.

    Thanks.

I haven't used OWC yet, but from what I've read on other threads they are very good. I have used Crucial for upgrading my desktop though and I've been happy with them.

The folks over at the macrumors forums seem to have excellent success with OWC. I upgraded my macbook pro to 4GB with g.skill RAM from newegg, so I'm fairly certain you won't have any problems. It's really simple and there are plenty of youtube videos showing how to do it if you feel like you need it.

That is good to hear. One more question, on a Macintosh-based system will there be much of a difference in using low-latency memory vs standard memory?

The reason I ask is because OWC offers both types of 4 GB RAM kits and if there is a decent performance increase (without sacrificing stability) I would be willing to pay the extra ~$10.00 for the lower latency memory.

I picked up 4 gb from Newegg, checked a 'how to' install video on You Tube, was in and out of my MBP in 20 minutes. It was a piece of cake. I put in some Kensington, paid under $100 for it all and things went like clockwork.
