Right now im on my third macbook pro as i have returned the last two due to defective keyboards. Its really disappointing/fustrating to have to return these beautiful machines because of such a silly problem. These keyboards are usable, but when i pay 2400 for a machine i expect everything the way it is suppose to be.

1st machine: a eject key that stuck out
2nd machine: f9, f10, f11 keys are not flat are not well grounded

I think im going to look elsewhere when its time to get a replacement. However i do feel apple service is exceptional as they have easily replaced my computer without hassle.

    Well sorry to hear that.

However maybe when you call to return and they ask why, just tell them truthfully why, and maybe they'll finally listen. Other than that, good luck with your search.

guhjeeh, I'm sorry to hear bout your keyboard issues. I've got a MBP with an interesting keyboard (the delete key is on a ~15 degree downward angle from left to right, as is the return key, and my arrow keys are definately not flush. Though a fair few of the keys are not perfect, the keyboard is fantastic to type on so I don't even worry about it; it hardly detracts from the look, and comfort is really the only important thing when it comes to the keyboard. My advice, don't be quite so picky if it feels good, especially if it's only 1 key...

Hey, that kinda sucks that the keyboard bothered you enough to try something else. I have my MBP on order, sitting in Shanghai right now, hopefully I won't experience any problems.

Something as small as a tilted key won't bother me if it isn't totally obvious and bothersome. I am more concerned about the "other" issues people have stated about their MBPs.

Good Luck with your future laptop(s)

Well if it makes you feel any better, I have returned 3 and am on my fourth which has been to AppleCare twice now. All this since June 1. The first a line of pixels went to gray and would not unstick, the second randomly shut down, the third seemed to have a lot of issues, but looking back was probably me being paranoid at that point. My current one was sent in for the whine, which was fixed, but came back and a week later the video card took a dump. I think it was not reconnected right when the fixed the logic board. In the end there are only one or two of those problems I can directly blame Apple for, the video card connection and possibly the random shutdowns. And trust me, you won't find that it is any better anywhere else, and to be honest what you are worrying about is cosmetic. Most companies would not let you return that without alot of hassle. Good luck, I would have them open it when you are there.

Its not really bothersome, but considering that i paid so much it is disappointing. Apple has some of the best customer service, and i am really happy i bought it at an apple store instead of online.
