Hi,
I was thinking of making a ram upgrade on my 2007 core2duo 2.4 GHz macbook pro. I presently have 4 GB installed - and was wondering whether I could make it 8 GB?
-
More importantly, why do you feel you need to upgrade your RAM? What are you doing which warrants this decision? If you don't already have an SSD, you'd be better to upgrade that first instead of RAM.
-
Again, back to the original Q - at what value does the RAM max out for my notebook? 6GB, 8GB? If it's 6GB, then can a 2 GB and 4GB bricks be placed together to achieve the 6GB?
Would buying an SSD be very helpful in this matter? One issue I have is that my photo library is located in an external HDD - so kindly consider that as well ... -
Late 2007 Macbook Pros ( MacBook Pro (Late 2007, 2.4/2.2GHz) - Technical Specifications) have been successfully upgraded to 8GB RAM. -
If you don´t have a SSD, it´s a better choice to get one rather than rams. But if SSD already there, more ram is also always good.
-
Another vote for an SSD before more ram.
-
Don't mean to hijack the thread but what SSD do you recommend? 250-320GB? What brand and where do you suggest buying it?
-
I'm not quite getting the rationale behind placing an upgrade to SSD over an upgrade of RAM ...
it's primarily because of a lack of ram due to the memory hog that Aperture 3 and lightzone are that the page ins and outs to the HDD are increasing - so wouldn't it make sense to compensate that by increasing the ram, decreasing the page in/outs??
just curious as to what the theory is behind this?
Max RAM on a mabook pro 2007 model?
