I finally updated to Snow Leopard on my Alu MacBook and tried to use Migration Assistant on the newly installed OS but run into problems because I had used FileVault and for some reason I can not log into my account:

"You are unable to log in to the FileVault user account at this time. Logging into the account failed because an error occurred."

    Sooo...

1- Can I use my Time Machine back up to transfer files and programs over and how to I get around this problem?

2- As an option, can I just retrieve my email folder and settings plus my iTunes?

    Thanks :)

    Lesson learned:
If you plan to use Migration Assistant turn FileVault OFF before you do the update to Snow Leopard.
